Oh I had a fabulous week, I really did, but interestingly enough my score only went up by 1.4 points – my average was 31.4. It doesn’t matter, it’s just a number, and the goal is to feel great and I DID – YAY! What great thing did you do this week? Please let us know!
Probably a little too great – LOL! Yesterday was Saturday, the final day for week 2. I was feeling strong and hustling about; I was even up early enough to get out for a hike by 9:30 in the morning! That, my friend, is unheard of for a typical Saturday (unless we are going to the beach where you can take a nap!). I completed my errands and began to get the house prepared for a mini family gathering for Dad’s birthday, I had 10 coming.
Sidebar – my house was my grandmother’s built in 1956 and we purchased it in 2013. It is small ranch, a little under 1200 square feet, with a finished basement and “moderate” aka tiny rooms. I host my kids (2 boys, 2 girlfriends, 1 grandson, sometimes a husband, and a husky – in addition to my fur-baby) every week for family dinner. So, we have this very long, English style dining table always with the leaves in place and it takes up almost the entire room.
Okay, I digress, back to preparing for the guests. WELL, I was feeling so amazing that I thought it was a perfectly good idea to carry these heavy, armed chairs over my head and place at the table … hmmm nope not a good idea – had to ice before I could cook – OOPs! On the mend now and all was fine AND the dinner was AWESOME (if I humbly say so myself!). PLUS, we got to see my sister who we haven’t seen since September (she is currently living in Washington with her Husband and they are professional Rock Climbers – how cool is that!).
And we have now come full-circle, by way of Chicago. THIS is why I felt so great – my workouts for the week (well, at least three of them anyway) were Inspired by “Wednesday Wanderings” and this post from A Beautiful Adventure. Thank you! From this inspiration, Sonny and I ventured off to this little portion of the Metacomet Trail that runs, literally, along the mountain just above our house! We did this 2.5 mile walk / hike combo 3 days out of the week and pushed ourselves on the other days for a longer walk in the neighborhood.
The Metacomet Trail – is so pretty – a picture of my view coming next week, I promise! [The Metacomet Trail is a 62.7-mile Blue-Blazed hiking trail that traverses the Metacomet Ridge of central Connecticut and is a part of the newly designated ‘New England National Scenic Trail’.]
As I mentioned in my intro for The Journey to the Best Version of Me, my goal isn’t just to lose weight and be skinny – I did that for my wedding day. And well, I guess that didn’t work because here I am doing it again. This time I want to make life changes that I can stick with 80% of the time (Progress not Perfection). The other fantastic piece of inspiration was an article from WLC – “Real Improvement vs. Substituting for Less Bad“, written by Becca Borawski Jenkins. The jest of her message was don’t try to squeeze your old habits into the rules, but work on actually making changes – good changes to your habits. And I really took stock in that comment and became more accountable for my life and my choices.
I hope I have inspired you, even if just a little! Peace and Blessings to you, my Friend.
